TT turmoil gets stocks sliding in bourse

The Hellenic Postbank turmoil, with the stock getting suspended from trading in early afternoon after sliding 29.71 percent, dragged most stocks lower on Thursday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 629.10 points, dropping by 1.83 percent from Wednesday?s closing figure of 640.84 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index contracted by 1.84 percent to close at 227.23 points.

Coca-Cola HBC suffered a decline of 4.96 percent, while three blue chips posted significant gains: Mytilineos (up 3.17 percent), Public Power Corporation (3.07) and Duty Free Shops (2.97 percent).

In total, 45 stocks posted gains, 63 registered losses and 24 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 15.7 million euros, down from Wednesday?s 16.8 million.
