Most Greeks’ savings below 2,000 euros

Most Greeks hold deposits of less than 2,000 euros in the nation?s banks, according to the latest data from the Hellenic Bank Association.

As of June 30, some 82 percent had deposits of as much as 2,000 euros and another 11 percent had deposits between 2,000 euros and 10,000 euros, according to a statement posted on the Athens-based organization?s website.

The data showed that 5.9 percent had deposits of between 10,000 euros and 50,000 euros, 0.9 percent of between 50,000 euros and 100,000 euros and the smallest percentage, 0.4 percent, with more than 100,000 euros. [Bloomberg]
