Seconds thoughts on CCHBC send index over 820 pts

The prevailing view that the public offering for Coca-Cola HBC shares (at 13.85 euros per share) will fail and that other, more profitable offers will be submitted turned things around at the local bourse on Friday, sending the main index back above 820 points.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 824.86 points, climbing by 3.28 percent from Thursday?s 798.66 points. On a weekly basis it gave up 0.61 percent.

The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 3.3 percent to close at 300.51 points. CCHBC, the stock with the biggest capitalization in the bourse, added 6.96 percent to reach 16.75 euros. The only blue chip to outperform it yesterday was Viohalco, which gained 7.67 percent. Marfin Investment Group went down 0.53 percent.

In total, 91 stocks went up, 45 declined and 19 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 56.6 million euros, down from Thursday?s 62.3 million.
