Unmoved by talks’ breakdown, stocks keep rising

The Greek bourse continued to climb for a third day in succession on Tuesday as morning doubts gave way to optimism for a deal between Athens and its creditors despite the disagreements that emerged in their negotiations during the course of the day.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 849.82 points, climbing by 1.78 percent from Monday?s 834.99 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 1.91 percent to close at 311.93 points.

Public Power Corporation rallied by 5.58 percent, just ahead of Coca-Cola HBC (up 5.35 percent). Hellenic Petroleum gave up 3.59 percent.

In total, 79 stocks posted gains, 59 registered losses and 27 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 68.8 million euros, up from Monday?s 57.1 million.
