Non-banking blue chips take index above 870 points

Gaming company OPAP and OTE telecom enjoyed significant gains in the week’s last bourse session to see the benchmark index add almost one percentage point on Friday and 5.55 percent over the week.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 870.64 points, adding 0.90 percent to Thursday?s 862.88 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index expanded by 1.11 percent to close at 324.81 points.

OPAP climbed 4.34 percent and OTE 4.32 percent. Bank of Cyprus completed its seventh straight session of gains, which have added up to 34.86 percent. It rose by 7.26 percent yesterday, beaten only by rival Cyprus Popular Bank (up 9.76 percent). Eurobank Ergasias gave up 1.56 percent.

In total, 86 stocks posted gains, 62 registered losses and 20 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 77.5 million euros, down from Thursday’s 120.7 million.
