Shoppers in the capital will be able to snap up bargains in the capital?s stores in the coming days as the Athens Traders Association called on its members on Monday to launch a 10-day period of special offers for consumers from Thursday through November 10.
The statement encouraged tradesmen to offer fall merchandise at lower prices in a bid to rekindle consumers? appetite for shopping as the crisis has dealt a serious blow to the local retail sector. Citizens and visitors to the city were also invited to contribute to the revitalization of the city center with their participation.
Branded ?midseason sales,? the plan effectively paves the way for the introduction of sales periods in fall and spring that the Development Ministry is also proposing on the recommendation of market professionals. The proposed measure will be put up for consultation.
The offers period will be supported by the City of Athens with special events to be organized in the city center, the association announced.
It also advised traders to visit the www.pameathina.net website of the association and upload their special offers so that consumers can learn more.
