Telecom staff turning to voluntary exit

Job insecurity in the Greek market has rendered voluntary exit programs very popular in the telecommunications sector.

The two programs that Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) has presented to its workers have already attracted 1,700 applications, approaching the target set by the company for 1,800 exits.

The Greek subsidiary of mobile phone network Vodafone has reported twice as many applications for voluntary exit as the 70-80 the company had made plans for, while the employees’ union says there are more than three times as many applications.
