Sprider board charged over fire

An Athens prosecutor has filed charges against the governing board of listed company Sprider Stores for being allegedly responsible for the fire that burned out the headquarters and the storage facilities of the company at Anthoussa, eastern Attica, last February, in order to cash in 16 million euros from the insurance.

Four others are accused of starting the fire, having deactivated part of the buildings’ security system, which raised the suspicions of the fire service.
