Greek exports and imports post rise in October

There were substantial increases to imports and exports in October based on year-on-year figures, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Monday.

The total value of imports, excluding oil products, in October 2012 amounted to 2.73 billion euros against 2.48 billion euros in October 2011 – an increase of 10.1 percent.

However, the trend for imports over the last 12 months has been downward.

The total value of imports, excluding oil products, for the 12-month period between November 2011 and October 2012 fell by 8.4 percent compared to November 2010 to October 2011.

Exports continued to rise in October. The total value of exports excluding oil products came to 1.52 billion euros against 1.34 billion euros in October 2011 – an increase of 13.8 percent.

The total value of exports excluding oil products for the 12-month period between November 2011 and October 2012 increased by 6.8 percent compared to November 2010 to October 2011.
