Tax payment to be transferred to banks, post offices

As of June 1 next year, taxpayers will pay all their dues to the tax authorities via banks and post offices, thereby decongesting tax offices, whose numbers have been reduced.

According to a decision announced on Monday by Deputy Finance Minister Giorgos Mavraganis, taxpayers will get the code for the amount owed from the website of the General Secretariat for Information Systems ( The same code will be used by taxpayers when paying their dues at banks or post offices whether it concerns a single payment or several installments.

Taxpayers will be able to choose where they want to pay the amounts they owe, while in exceptional circumstances whereby payment at a bank or post office is not possible, they will be able to do so at a tax office.
