Tax payment to be transferred to banks, post offices

As of June 1 next year, taxpayers will pay all their dues to the tax authorities via banks and post offices, thereby decongesting tax offices, whose numbers have been reduced.

According to a decision announced on Monday by Deputy Finance Minister Giorgos Mavraganis, taxpayers will get the code for the amount owed from the website of the General Secretariat for Information Systems (www.gsis.gr). The same code will be used by taxpayers when paying their dues at banks or post offices whether it concerns a single payment or several installments.

Taxpayers will be able to choose where they want to pay the amounts they owe, while in exceptional circumstances whereby payment at a bank or post office is not possible, they will be able to do so at a tax office.
