Tourism arrivals from abroad fell by only 3.3 pct

Tourism arrivals from abroad at the country’s main airports declined by 3.3 percent year-on-year in 2012, according to figures compiled by the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE) and presented on Wednesday.

The total figure stood at 11.3 million, compared to 11.7 million in 2011, thereby limiting the tourism decline last year to a minimum, in contrast to fears of a double-digit percentage drop.

Athens International Airport posted a drop of 11.8 percent, but Thessaloniki’s Macedonia Airport (pictured) added 5 percent, Hania welcomed 9.2 percent more arrivals and Cephalonia received 13.1 percent more.
