Benchmark index posts moderate rise after rebound

Most local stocks posted a rise on Tuesday, after prices rebounded halfway through the session following two-and-a-half days of losses.

The Athens Exchange general index closed at 1,022.13 points, adding 0.87 percent to Monday’s 1,013.35 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX-25 index expanded by 1.09 percent, ending at 344.56 points, although the mid-cap index shrunk by 0.45 percent.

The launch of the tender for two power production units saw Public Power Corporation climb by 5.35 percent, followed by Piraeus Bank (up 2.84 percent).

Eurobank Ergasias fared worst among the blue chips, giving up 3.97 percent, while Coca-Cola HBC declined by 0.87 percent.

In total 93 stocks went up, 72 posted losses and 21 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 52.2 million euros, up from Monday’s 37.3 million.
