Big turnover as OTE, OPAP and CCHBC grab investor attention

Turnover on the local bourse was surprisingly high on Friday thanks to a spike in interest in the stocks of OPAP gaming company, OTE telecom and Coca-Cola HBC, which between them secured 56 percent of all trading volume.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 960.42 points, shedding 0.81 percent from Thursday’s 968.29 points. On a weekly basis it has added 0.85 percent. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX-25 index declined by 0.89 percent, ending at 313.04 points.

Piraeus Bank expanded by 9.19 percent, followed by Ellaktor (up 6.32 percent). Titan cement gave up 5.90 percent.

In total 74 stocks registered gains, 65 sustained losses and 30 remained unchanged.

Turnover soared to 134.3 million euros from Thursday’s 82.8 million.
