Stocks inch up on low turnover
Despite the uncertainty regarding the credit sector restructuring and ongoing worries about the Cyprus crisis, the climate of optimism that the government is trying to cultivate in the market seemed to give the bourse a small lift on Thursday, albeit on low turnover.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 842.76 points, adding 0.59 percent to Wednesday’s 837.82 points.
The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX-25 inched up 0.38 percent to 270.59 points.
In total 82 stocks posted gains, 52 sustained losses and 23 stayed put.
Turnover fell to 38.5 million euros from Wednesday’s 38.7 million.
