French eye rail operators and airports

During a meeting on Friday with Development and Transport Minister Costis Hatzidakis, France’s junior minister for transport and the maritime economy, Frederic Cuvillier, said that French companies were taking a keen interest in the current wave of Greek privatizations.

French firms Vinci, SNCF and Alstom are mainly interested in Greece’s regional airports, railway service operator TRAINOSE and the railway carriage maintenance and repair company Rosco, Cuvillier reportedly told Hatzidakis.

The French official said there will soon be cooperation between the two countries on the railway front involving Alstom and SNCF, while Vinci will also participate in projects concerning highways and regional airports.

Hatzidakis said discussions also focused on the restarting of work on the country’s major highways.
