Number of British visitors to Greece in 2012 down 5% to 1.8 mln

The number of British tourists visiting Greece last year fell by 5 percent to 1.82 million, according to newly released statistics from the UK.

The Office for National Statistics found the Britons spend 1.3 billion euros on their Greek holidays last year.

Those in the age group 45-54 were the most common visitors, followed by those aged between 35 and 44.

The average stay in Greece was 11 nights.

The number of Greeks visiting the UK in 2012 was down 30 percent to 159,000, the ONS said.
