Bill bolsters revenues secretariat

The multi-bill tabled on Thursday in Parliament by the Finance Ministry provides for the ministry’s General Secretariat for Revenues to undertake the responsibilities, staff and available resources of the General Secretariat of Information Systems as of July 31.

It also provides for a similar absorption by the secretariat of the ministry’s Internal Inspections Agency by the end of July and the undertaking of inspections by the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) as of October 31.

The General Secretariat for Revenues will also have a five-member council set up with a tenure of no more than three years that will advise the minister on major policy issues concerning tax and customs administration.
