Thessaloniki water company has four suitors

The state privatizations fund (TAIPED) was reportedly satisfied on Monday with the expressions of interest from four bidders for the Thessaloniki Water Company (EYATH), although it did not reveal any names.

According to sources, the 51 percent stake in the utility has attracted the interest of a consortium comprising France’s Suez and Greece’s Ellaktor, a Greek-Israeli consortium made up of of GEK-Terna and Mekorot, as well as Greek-Russian entrepreneur Ivan Savvidis and a Thessaloniki citizens’ movement that is against the privatization of the city’s water company.

TAIPED also expects to receive an improved bid from Emma Delta for a 33 percent stake in gaming company OPAP by Wednesday, which will determine the overall success of the privatizations project.
