Lottomatica to get minority stake in OPAP
Italian betting giant Lottomatica will invest in Greek gaming monopoly OPAP by acquiring a minority stake in the Emma Delta consortium, which on Wednesday reached a deal with Athens to buy out a 33 percent controlling stake in the company.
On Thursday Reuters cited a Lottomatica representative saying that the move was strategic: “Lottomatica Group will act as an industrial partner and it aims to contribute with its know-how and its international experience in technology, management and the launch of new products,” the representative reportedly stated.
He stopped short of revealing the size of the holding the Italians will acquire in Emma Delta.
OPAP had chosen Lottomatica to provide technological support for its expansion into online betting last July.
