Constructors enter more business sectors
Construction companies in Greece are taking steps to expand their activities into sectors such as waste management, as they realize they can no longer rely on public works for their survival.
Opportunities in this direction have increased in recent months thanks to government initiatives for the concession of the management of a number of public corporations and organizations, such as regional airports and the Athens and Thessaloniki water companies, while the development of the waste management sector is increasingly in the plans of the major construction groups due to its profit margins.
Tenders for the management of garbage at several major units in Attica are already in the pipeline and a number of local construction groups, which have no know-how in this domain, are forming alliances with international firms.
