Bourse turnover shrinks as National is taken off trading

A six-week streak of gains ended for the Greek bourse as the index on Friday suffered weekly losses of 10.19 percent after a fifth straight day of decline.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,035.12 points, shrinking by 0.31 percent from Thursday’s 1,038.39 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX-25 index declined by 0.36 percent to end at 350.65 points.

Eurobank Ergasias slumped by 15.22 percent and Piraeus dropped by 13.75 percent, while Alpha added 5.26 percent.

In total 54 stocks went up, 92 suffered losses and 26 stayed put.

With National Bank taken out of trading until May 30, turnover came to 78.2 million euros, the smallest in the last 13 sessions, down from Thursday’s 132.9 million.
