Extension to deadline for income tax declarations possible, says official

The Finance Ministry’s general secretary for revenues, Haris Theocharis, has not ruled out an extension to the June 30 deadline for tax declarations.

Speaking to the Athens-Macedonia News Agency, Theocharis said that if there is a change to the deadline it would be a “one-off” with no further extensions after that.

The online submission of income tax forms via the Taxisnet system began last week after several days of delay.

Theocharis said that a guide advising taxpayers how to fill in their forms would be available online from Monday.

He said the Finance Ministry is also in talks with banks so they can issue statements detailing the interest earned on any deposits, which also have to be declared this year.
