Royal Caribbean to make port investments

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, one of the world’s biggest cruise operators, expressed on Thursday an active interest in realizing investments in Greece as a tourism destination and in supplying consultancy services for the development of cruise tourism in the country, according to its regional sales director, Helen Beck.

She added that the US group will implement investments in the ports of Pireaus or Faliro or other Greek government proposals, noting that Royal Caribbean is also interested in the port of Iraklio on Crete.

The company, whose ships bring the highest number of cruise passengers to Greece, may start using Greek ports for home porting in 2015 and 2016 but no decision has been made yet as far as Greece is concerned, Beck said.
