Custom officials’ dispute holds up use of new cruise ship terminal at Piraeus

Representatives of the Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) are due to meet customs officials on Wednesday in a bid to resolve a dispute over a new terminal for cruise ships.

The terminal, which has the ability to accommodate 25,000 passengers, was opened a few days ago but has yet to function because customs officials have refused to man it.

The customs officers want to manage the terminal themselves but OLP, which built, the new facility is not willing to give up the management.

Three large cruise ships that have docked at Piraeus over the past few days have been forced to use the old terminal.
