Stocks post 2.32 pct rise on investor confidence in troika talks

The main index of the local bourse posted a minor dip in the first week of July, having climbed back from deeper losses as worries about the government’s negotiations with its creditors appeared to have all but vanished on Friday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 840.92 points, growing 2.32 percent from Thursday’s 821.86 points, although on a weekly basis it recorded a 0.78 percent decline.

The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX-25 index rose 2.38 percent to 285.95 points.

National Bank outperformed, climbing 7.84 percent, while Intralot contracted by 3.13 percent.

In total, 84 stocks showed gains, 43 reported losses and 20 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 32.2 million euros, up from Thursday’s 28.3 million.
