PPC offers discounts to big customers

Public Power Corporation (PPC) announced on Friday new, reduced rates for medium- and high-voltage customers that will not only entail a 15 percent discount but will also apply retroactively, from January 1, 2013.

In what is a great boost for the country’s energy-intensive industries and major corporations, PPC is introducing 15 new electricity rates, eight of which concern medium-voltage customers and seven are for high-voltage customers. These rates apply to over 10,000 corporations in total. In some cases, the discounts offered amount to 20 percent. Power consumption can also be charged per month or even 10-day periods.

The Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) recently imposed a fine of 4.4 million euros on PPC for not offering its customers any alternative rates. These new rates will now vary, depending on the profile of each customer.
