Illegal street trade on Development Ministry agenda

Regional officials are meeting Development Minister Costis Hatzidakis on Wednesday to discuss measures to combat illegal street trading.

There are concerns that the illegal street trade of consumer goods will flourish following the abolition of the municipal police.

Other items on the agenda of talks are restaurant price cuts on the back of the pilot VAT reduction from 23 to 13 percent, and the operation of shops on Sundays following recent legislation allowing shopowners the option of staying open several more days a year.
