Number of tech-related jobs set to rise 17.7 pct by 2020

Specialized technical staff and those with technological vocations in general are projected to benefit most from developments in the labor market until 2020, albeit not as strongly as in previous decades, according to the European Center for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP).

Referring to Greece in particular, the center projects a 17.7 percent rise in their numbers, against a 51.3 percent increase in the 2000-10 period.

Less specialized technical positions, such as those of sales staff in the services sector, are also projected to see their numbers rise, by 3.6 percent, along with those of machine operators and tool assemblers.

The numbers of senior executives, self-employed professionals, craftsmen, specialized farmers and fishermen are all set to decline.
