Tax payments to be made by credit card installments

More Greek taxpayers are expected to start using credit cards to pay their income and property dues in the months ahead.

Six, nine or 12 monthly installments, in which cases the taxpayer enjoys a discount of 1.5 percent, can be paid at banks. Payments can be made in up to 36 installments but without a discount.

The Finance Ministry is likely to also forward notifications of the Real Estate Tax for 2013 within October. About 500 million euros in income tax, of the 9.9-billion-euro total, was paid using credit cards in 2012
