Luxury cars airlifted out of Greece, report says

Emirates Airlines has shipped a total of twenty luxury cars to new owners in Dubai, Singapore and Tokyo over the past two years, metaforespress.gr said Thursday quoting company officials.

The cars, mainly Lamborghinis and Ferraris, have been transported on the company’s Boeing 777s to the tune of 10,000 euros per vehicle, officials said during a company event Wednesday, according to the website.

Hit by a six-year recession and multiple tax hikes on luxury items many Greeks, even wealthy ones, have been trading in their large SUVs and fast convertibles for less costly alternatives.
