End-of-session advance for Athens bourse

The closing auctions at the Greek bourse on Thursday provided considerable buying interest that reversed earlier losses and propelled the benchmark index ever closer to the 1,000-point level.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 997 points, adding 0.82 percent to Wednesday’s 988.85 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index expanded by 0.80 percent to end at 341.75 points.

Marfin Investment Group outperformed, adding 7.21 percent.

In total 70 stocks went up, 47 headed south and 25 stayed put.

Turnover fell to 46.1 million euros from Wednesday’s 56.1 million.
