Santorini tourism traffic still at August levels

Santorini is experiencing one of its best tourism seasons ever, with hotel units retaining their high occupancy rates this month too, while in the next couple of months as many as 139 cruise ships are scheduled to visit this picturesque Aegean island.

“We are still in August,» said the head of the Santorini Hoteliers’ Association, Manolis Karamolegos, in an effort to reflect the positive course of bookings even for September.

The latest available data for the January-August period point to a 19.4 percent annual increase in arrivals by air, reaching 196,253 against 164,414 in the same period of 2012.
