Oil giants focus on local hydrocarbon reserves
The findings of the Nordic Explorer, the Norwegian research vessel that has been conducting seismic surveys in the Ionian Sea and south of Crete, are eagerly awaited by the global oil industry, as confirmed by the presence of representatives of the market’s top players at the Balkans Oil and Gas Summit that began on Tuesday in Athens and concludes on Wednesday.
Global industry giants such as Shell, ExxonMobil, Repsol, Gazprom Neft and Bulgargaz, as well as smaller European companies, are attending the summit as they wait to see the next steps in the utilization of hydrocarbon reserves in western and southern Greece.
France’s Total has already acquired the full package of seismic data collected, while Hellenic Petroleum told the conference that the Greek firm has also purchased the data.
