Car sales rose by 13 percent year-on-year in September, according to figures published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) on Monday.

A total of 5,356 cars were sold in September but sales of motorcycles fell by 8 percent compared to the same month in 2012.

Overall, care sales between January and September this year are 1.7 percent down on the same period last year.

This represents a dramatic slowdown in the decline of car sales, which fell by more than 40 percent between January and September last year when compared to 2011 figures.
