Kefaloyianni signs tourism deal with Russia

Greek Tourism Development Minister Olga Kefaloyianni, the head of Russia’s Federal Agency for Tourism, Alexander Radkov, and his alternate, Evgeniy Pisarevskiy, signed a joint action program for the tourism sector through 2015, in Moscow on Tuesday.

The program is aimed at exchanging know-how, encouraging cooperation in tourism training and promoting investments.

Russia is also to take part in the Philoxenia exhibition in Thessaloniki next month and to co-organize a Greek-Russian tourism business forum in Athens next year.

The program forms part of the Greek ministry’s strategy to increase the country’s share in a growing tourism market that has contributed significantly to the rise in tourism arrivals this year by an estimated 17.5 million.

Russian arrivals have quadrupled from 2009 to 2012.
