Third straight day of losses on local stock market

Stocks on the Athens bourse continued to head south on Tuesday, as they have done since the beginning of the month, taking the benchmark to its lowest level in the last 13 sessions.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,138.35 points, shedding 2.10 percent from Monday’s 1,162.77 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 contracted 2.17 percent to end at 377.71 points.

Intralot was the worst off among blue chips as it gave up 5 percent, while OTE telecom shrank by 4.05 percent and Piraeus Bank decreased by 4 percent. Eurobank Properties (up 0.22 percent) and Folli Follie (0.18 percent) were the only blue chips to register gains.

In total 39 stocks went up, 95 suffered losses and 18 stayed unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 83.7 million euros, up from Monday’s 72 million.
