Foreign tourism arrivals at Cretan airports rise 17 pct

Cretan airports enjoyed a record number of international tourist arrivals in the first nine months of the year, a Hania hoteliers’ association survey showed, as the total reached an unprecedented 3.1 million.

Iraklio Airport reported 2.3 million arrivals in the year to end-September, up 16.4 percent on the same period in 2012, while Hania received about 782,000 holidaymakers from abroad, up 17.3 percent.

Revenues in the local tourism market grew by 19.3 percent.
