Greek resorts luring Russians
Zakynthos, Santorini and Kos were the destinations with the biggest increase in online searches for holidays abroad by Russian tourists this year, while Greek ski resorts ranked second in the world in terms of popularity, according to two surveys by Hotels.com and Trivago respectively.
The first global survey by Hotels.com on the Russian tourism market showed that the online searches on its Russian pages in the first nine months of this year posted an increase of 354 percent for Zakynthos, 197 percent for Santorini and 189 percent for Kos compared with the same period in 2012.
Three more popular Greek destinations – Rhodes, Geropotamos on Crete and Corfu Town – made the top 20.
The international survey by Trivago showed that Greece was second only to Switzerland according to the marks ski resort visitors gave to countries. This meant Greece fared better than traditional skiing destinations such as Austria, Germany and Italy.
