Mood change on bourse after Astir Palace tender success

Local stocks staged a comeback on Tuesday on increased turnover while the benchmark reclaimed the 1,200-point mark. The successful completion of the tender for Astir Palace Hotel, which will go to the Jermyn Street Real Estate Fund, certainly played its part.

The ATHEX general index closed at 1,200.67 points, adding 1.50 percent to Monday’s 1,182.93 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded 1.38 percent to end at 393.87 points.

Terna Energy outperformed with gains of 4.73 percent, while Hellenic Exchanges added 4.51 percent and OTE telecom grew by 3.85 percent. Marfin Investment Group was the worst off, contracting by 2.80 percent.

In total 79 stocks recorded gains, 52 suffered losses and 22 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 83.3 million euros, the highest in the last four sessions, up from Monday’s 49.4 million euros.
