Competition Commission focuses on beer, gas markets

The Competition Commission is investigating a total of 45 cases in as many sectors of the Greek market to establish whether there have been instances of dominant position abuse or other anti-competitive practices, its president, Dimitris Kyritsakis, announced on Tuesday.

In the presence of Development Minister Costis Hatzidakis, Kyritsakis added that the watchdog will publish its investigation into the beer industry covering more than 10 years within the next few days.

Other investigations include the supermarket sector, examining not only the shelf prices of basic products but also practices employed across the board, such as product placement, among others.

Consumer complaints have also led to a closer look at gas stations for vehicles due to alleged harmonized price practices.
