New framework to simplify state contracts

The Development Ministry presented on Monday the single legislative framework for all state contracts concerning procurements, public works and services, to replace the over 400 clauses that had existed until today.

The government expects to save at least 10 percent in related expenditure through the new framework and the full digitalization of public tenders. This is not only thanks to the reduction of administrative costs, but also to the containment of ‘leaks’ in the public coffers due to overpricing and the abuse of direct concessions.

Procurers will also benefit from the standardized formal statement that will replace the pile of certificates they were required to submit until today.

The new framework, which constitutes the fulfillment of another of the country’s commitments to its creditors, will be put to consultation for one month, with all the above changes expected to bear fruit within one year.
