Taxpayers form long queues as deadline approaches

Queues at tax offices are growing longer as taxpayers have to pay off their income tax, luxury item tax, road tax, property tax and other obligations to the state before Tuesday, the end of the year.

The Finance Ministry expects as much as 1.5 billion euros from various taxes in the last working days of the year – Monday and Tuesday – although many expect deadlines for several taxes, including road tax, to be extended as usual.

Tens of thousands of vehicle owners are submitting their license plates to avoid having to pay road tax and various other charges.
