Checks on Greeks who sent money abroad reveal 7.2 mln in unpaid taxes

Finance Ministry sources said on Monday that checks on the money transferred abroad by Greeks between 2009 and 2011 has revealed so far that 7.2 million euros in tax was not paid.

The findings relate to 44 checks that have been carried out so far. In 12 cases, the money had not been declared properly. The ministry sources said that 2.5 million euros from the total amount in question has already been collected.

A total of almost 25,000 Greeks were asked to provide details relating to the transfer of money abroad during the 2009 to 2011 period.
