Tourism sector eyes year of records

International tourism bookings for Greece are so far showing an increase ranging between 8 and 11 percent on last year, a trend which should lead to a new record in arrivals and revenues, the president of the Hellenic Association of Tourism and Travel Agencies, Lysandros Tsilidis, said on Thursday.

He went on to note that there has been particular demand for all-inclusive packages at four- and five-star hotels.

There was a 21.7 increase in arrivals in December 2013 compared to the same month a year earlier, as the total last year reached 17.92 million, according to the Bank of Greece, while revenues grew by 15.6 percent in December for a total of nearly 12 billion throughout 2013.
