OTE stock leads bourse to another day of modest gains

OTE telecom shares led the Greek bourse to another day of moderate gains on Wednesday as it cast aside investor fatigue and reservations to help the benchmark climb above 1,350 points.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,353.01 points, adding 0.76 percent to Tuesday’s 1,342.75 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded 0.67 percent to 436.12 points, while small-caps outperformed again, rising 1.74 percent.

OTE increased by 4.92 percent, followed by METKA, which climbed by 3.70 percent, and EYDAP, up 1.47 percent. Folli Follie contracted by 3.35 percent, Eurobank Properties declined 2.84 percent and Marfin Investment Group gave up 1.87 percent.

In total, 81 stocks reported gains, 60 suffered losses and 19 remained unchanged.

Turnover amounted to 99.7 million euros, down from Tuesday’s 121.4 million.
