Greek exports down by 7 pct in February as imports rise 1.6 pct

The value of Greek exports fell by 7 percent in February compared to a year earlier, as imports rose by 1.6 percent, according to figures published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) on Monday.

The total value of exports in February amounted to 2.04 billion euros against 2.20 billion euros in February 2013, a drop of 7 percent. Excluding oil products, the drop was 5.6 percent.

The total value of imports in February 2014 amounted to 4.03 billion euros against 3.96 billion euros in February 2013, an increase of 1.6 percent. Excluding oil products, the increase reached 16.4 percent.
