Bourse ended April with a blue-chip rally

The last session of April saw blue chips stage a rally that saw the benchmark reclaim 1,230 points and turnover exceed 250 million euros, including several prearranged transactions.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,232.12 points, adding 3.09 percent to Tuesday’s 1,195.20 points. This, however, was not enough to write off all April losses, that amounted to 7.76 percent.

The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded by 2.65 percent on Wednesday to 396.62 points.

All but three large-caps enjoyed a rise, with OTE telecom climbing 8.40 percent, Motor Oil adding 7.20 percent and METKA rising by 5.74 percent. National Bank declined by 2.44 percent.

In total, 93 stocks recorded gains, 37 sustained losses and 11 stayed unchanged.

Turnover soared to 251.1 million euros, compared with Tuesday’s 99.2 million.
