Local bourse benchmark posts a rise on reshuffle news
Investors voted in favor of the changes in the government lineup with their stock purchase orders, as blue chips sent the local benchmark over the 1,320-point level while trading volume remained high.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,322.90 points, adding 1.36 percent to Friday’s 1,305.16 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 25 expanded 1.44 percent to 428.46 points, although mid-caps gave up 0.41 percent.
Titan Cement outperformed with a 7.56 percent rise, while Marfin Investment Group fell 2.08 percent.
In total 57 stocks recorded gains, 75 suffered losses and 25 stayed put.
Turnover came to 296.7 million euros, up from Friday’s 366.6 million.
The share of foreign investors in the local market soared from 54.8 percent to 60.4 percent within one month, ATHEX statistics showed for end-May, as non-Greek holdings posted monthly growth of 10.2 percent.
