Fifth day of losses for Athens bourse benchmark
The Greek bourse benchmark saw a fifth consecutive session of losses on Tuesday, with turnover remaining at low levels, as buyers had the upper hand in the morning before conceding ground to sellers in the afternoon.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,258.48 points, dropping 0.30 percent from Monday’s 1,262.3 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 25 contracted 0.25 percent to close at 407.39 points, while the small-cap index expanded by 0.42 percent.
Declining blue chips outnumbered the gainers, which were led by Eurobank (up 3.17 percent) and Marfin Investment Group (3.13 percent). The biggest advance was for Eurobank Properties (up 3.98 percent) and Metka (2.26 percent).
In total 62 stocks recorded gains, 68 suffered losses and 21 stayed put. Turnover reached 105.2 million euros, against Monday’s 88.2 million.
