Ministry grants income tax declarations deadline extension

The Ministry of Finance on Friday granted an extension for the submission of income tax declarations for 2013. In a statement released on Friday the ministry noted that declarations would have to be submitted by July 14. Originally, the deadline had been June 30.

According to figures released by the ministry, 700,000 declarations had been submitted to online tax system TAXIS since Monday, with 198,000 declarations submitted on Thursday alone. The ministry urged tax payers to comply with the new deadline.

Earlier in the day, SYRIZA MPs Dimitris Gelalis and Efklidis Tsakalotos had urged the ministry to allow for an extension.
